1. Chairman

Dato’ Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip – Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd

Dato’ Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip is the Chief Executive Officer of Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd (the Manager of Sunway REIT, a listed REIT on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia). He also holds directorships in various organisations. He is an Independent Director of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, Director of Urban Hallmark Properties Sdn Bhd, Chairman of REHDA Institute and Chairman of the Malaysian REIT Managers Association (MRMA).  Prior to joining Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd, he was the Executive Director of Sunway City Berhad (currently known as Sunway Berhad) and former Managing Director of AP Land Berhad.

He is a panel member of the Appeal Board under the Federal Territory (Planning) Act, appointed by the Ministry of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing.  Dato’ Jeffrey is also Patron of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA).

He has held various positions in non-governmental associations, among which was President of REHDA, Chairman of REHDA Wilayah Persekutuan (KL) Branch, Director of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Vice President and Secretary General of FIABCI Malaysian Chapter (International Real Estate Federation), Vice President of Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners (MAHO), Chapter Chairman of Young Presidents Organisations (YPO) Malaysian Chapter and Vice Chairman of Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC). 

Dato’ Jeffrey has more than 30 years of extensive experience in finance, corporate planning and executive management in the real estate and hotel industry in both Malaysia and Australia. Graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University in Melbourne, he is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand as well as a Fellow member of the Malaysian Institute of Directors.

Dato’ was recently awarded “Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (REHDA) Personality of the year 2015” for his contribution to the real estate industry.  He was also accorded the “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Malaysia Australia Business Council. 

2. Vice Chairman

Yusaini bin Hj. Sidek – Managing Director of Damansara REIT Managers Sdn Bhd

Encik Yusaini bin Hj. Sidek,  is the Managing Director of Damansara REIT Managers Sdn Bhd (DRMSB). He was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director in 2009 and subsequently assumed his current role on 1 February 2013. Prior thereto, he had served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Manager since 2006. He is also presently the Executive Director of Damansara Assets Sdn Bhd (DASB) being appointed on 1 December 2012 and the Vice President, Commercial Property, Property Division of Johor Corporation since May 2015.

Encik Yusaini graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), with specialisation in International Business from University of Southern Queensland, Australia in 2010. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaaan Malaysia in 1999 and a Diploma in Valuation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1989.

He has approximately twenty five (25) years of experience in the Malaysian property industry, particularly in property management and valuations. He gained professional experience via attachment with numerous property-related companies and/or entities in Malaysia, namely, Colliers, Jordan Lee and Jaafar Sdn Bhd, the Valuation and Property Services Department of the Ministry of Finance, Bank Industri Malaysia Berhad, FIMA Corporation Berhad, CSM Corporation Berhad and Empire Tower (M) Sdn Bhd, wholly-owned subsidiary of Low Yat Group of Companies.

During his tenure with the aforementioned companies, amongst the buildings under his supervision are Bank Industri Building, Airtel Complex, Plaza Damansara, Jaya Shopping Centre, Menara CSM, Empire Tower and City Square Complex. He has vast experience in building management, primarily in the areas of tenancy management, marketing as well as promotion, preparation of business plan for buildings and maintenance management. In 2001, he joined Harta Consult Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johor Corporation as a Senior Manager until 2005 managing the properties under DASB in Kuala Lumpur prior to his appointment at DRMSB.  

Encik Yusaini has obtained a Capital Markets Services Representatives’ Licence for REIT as a Licensed Director to carry on regulated activities specified under the CMSA. In January 2015, he was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Malaysian REIT Managers Association (MRMA), an organization that act as a platform for the Malaysian REIT managers to engage with the regulatory bodies in proposing the changes to the industry to promote its growth.

3. Vice Chairman

Wong Khim Chon  – Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Am ARA REIT Managers Sdn Bhd

Mr Wong Khim Chon joined the Board of Am ARA REIT Managers Sdn Bhd, the Manager of AMFIRST Real Estate Investment Trust (“AmFIRST REIT”) on 8 January 2015. He is currently the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Manager.

Mr Wong has more than 30 years of experience in the real estate industry, in areas of building and civil construction, property development, project management and property management, including property-related asset management for a life insurance company.

Prior to joining the Manager, his last post was senior General Manager, Property with Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad, a well-diversified public listed group of companies with business activities in both East and Peninsular Malaysia.

He was then Head of Property Management and Leasing Department responsible for the group’s investment properties in Peninsular Malaysia, in addition to overseeing the Sale and Marketing Department for commercial and residential properties in the property development business unit. He was recently elected to the management board of the Malaysian REIT Managers Association, holding the position of vice chairman for 2016.

4. Honorary Secretary

Leong Kit May  – Chief Executive Officer and Finance Director of  Axis REIT Managers Berhad

Ms Leong Kit May, is the Chief Executive Officer and Finance Director of Axis REIT Managers Berhad. Equipped with a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from RMIT University in Australia. Ms Leong joined the work force in the late 1990s with Ernst & Young where she gained her audit and accounting experience. She is a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Certified Practising Accountants of Australia.

In 2001, Ms Leong joined the UOA Group of Companies where she was given the opportunity to specialise in various areas of the property sector including development, construction and investment. In 2005, she got her big break as part of the corporate team and was involved in the successful listing of UOA REIT.

At the age of 20, with several achievements under her belt, Ms Leong took another leap in her career and joined Axis REIT Managers Berhad in 2006 where she learned the ropes of managing financial and investment portfolios relating to office and industrial “reitable-properties”. In 2018, she was promoted to Chief Financial Officer where she garnered more experience in the management of Axis-REIT. In the same year, Ms Leong also spearheaded the project of converting Axis-REIT into the world’s first Islamic Office / Industrial REIT. She also anchored the capital management function of the Fund; from that of equity capital raising, treasury, as well as fund raising to Islamic bond issuance (Sukuk). She has been responsible for the five successful equity placement of Axis-REIT.

Recognised for her acute business sense and professionalism, Ms Leong was given the opportunity to further climb of the corporate ladder when, in 2011, she was appointed tot eh Axis-REIT Board of Directors as Executive Director when she was only 35 years old.

In the following years of 2012 and 2013, she led the launch Axis-REIT’s first Islamic Medium Term Notes (Sukuk) issuance programme of RM300.0 million with two tranches of Sukuk of RM110.0 million and RM155.0 million of nominal value. As part of the Board’s Succession Plan, Ms Leong was being groomed to be the next Chief Executive Officer of Axis-REIT.

In 2015, she made a decisive move when she accepted the Chief Operating Officer role, adding onto her responsibilities as Finance Director where she continued to manage financial matter of both the Company and the Fund.

In late 2014, she upsized the Sukuk Issuance programme further by increasing the existing Sukuk programme size from RM300.0 million to RM3.0 billion to allow for future issuances. Approval on the Sukuk programme’s upsizing was obtained at the start of 2015.

With her vast exposure in Islamic Finance and capital management, she has been invited to speak at numerous seminars and conferences in the country. Ms Leong is also director of Axis REIT Sukuk Berhad.
